Nokia To Launch Rs. 500 Handset Under Life Tools Program

As you all know that Nokia has launched its Nokia Life Tools program last year to tap the potential in India's rural market. The program aims towards connecting farmers with each other and also with their businesses in a better way. As a next step, Nokia will now be offering cheap handsets under its Life Tools program. These handsets will cost around 1,000 INR and farmers can easily afford them. Nokia is also planning to launch a 500 INR handset.

Nokia sells handsets in Indian rural markets through micro finance and such cheap handsets will help Nokia in penetrating the market in a better way. If you see today's mobile handset market in India, Nokia is one of the few branded companies that offers handset so cheap.

Nokia, though a big and strong player, is facing competition from its counterparts like Samsung and LG on one end and then there are Chinese cheap handsets and other India based OEMs like Micromax, Karbon who are slowly coming into the market. Their handsets offer a lot of features at a very low price.

With Life Tools, Nokia has already started tapping the rural treausre that India has and now the cheap handsets might just to the trick for Nokia. One thing is for sure, Nokia does know that India's rural market has potential as well as huge money and like Nokia always says, they love ompetition but they always aim for the biggers piece of the pie.
